Customs officials on Tuesday evening arrested a man with 50 gold bars weighting around 5 kg from at Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.
The arrestee Jasim Uddin (40) came through a flight of Regent Airways from Chittagong landed at Dhaka airport around 6: 30 pm.
Assistant Commissioner (Customs) of Dhaka Customs House Shahiduzzaman said tip-off, customs official challenged Jasim and recovered the gold from his shoes.
As the flight was coming from Bangkok and Jasim boarded as a local passenger from Chittagong, he might have received the gold bars from another passenger coming from Bangkok, Shahiduzzaman said.
